Mr. Ayer is AyerHoffman’s senior partner. He has worked in and around the health care industry and health law for over twenty years. His practice focuses on Civil Litigation, Consumer Protection issues such as violations of the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act, and Personal Injury actions, including medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, and premises liability. At Suffolk University Law School he concentrated on health law and related courses, studying with some of the foremost names in the field which Greater Boston has to offer.
Mr. Ayer’s goal at AyerHoffman is to provide clients with thorough, attentive, and thoughtful legal representation, taking the worry out of the legal process.
Mr. Ayer is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He is a member of the National Lawyer’s Guild and the Essex County Bar Association.

Melissa M. Ozaeta Hoffman, Esquire

Ms. Hoffman has over ten years of experience working in the legal field including in academia and non-profit organizations. She specializes in Consumer Law, Criminal Law, and Health Law.
Ms. Hoffman’s Consumer Law practice focuses on helping individuals take control of their finances, whether it be through obtaining a “fresh start” by filing either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy, negotiating settlements directly with creditors, or representation during litigation on past due debts.
In her Health Law practice, Ms. Hoffman assists patients in gaining access to quality health care, including Medicare and MassHealth, as well as addressing the litigation needs of individuals with physical disabilities, mental disabilities or injuries as a result of medical malpractice.
As a student at Suffolk University Law School, Ms. Hoffman was a member of the Suffolk Defenders Clinical Program representing indigent criminal defendants in Boston Municipal Court and Juvenile Court. In 2008, Ms. Hoffman co-authored Malpractice Premiums in Massachusetts, A High-Risk State: 1975 to 2005,” with Suffolk Law Professor Marc Rodwin, Hak Chang, and Richard Omar.
Ms. Hoffman is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She is a member of the Boston Bar Association and the Middlesex County Bar Association.

Chris E. Larson, Esquire

Mr. Larson is AyerHoffman’s newest associate, and is licensed to practice in the state of Massachusetts. He advises clients in the areas of Employment Law, Landlord-Tenant issues, Consumer Law, and Civil Litigation, with a current emphasis on hours representing clients before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
Mr. Larson spent his time at Suffolk University Law School studying employment discrimination, criminal law, and identity issues, specifically dealing with issues of individual rights and protections.
Mr. Larson’s goal at AyerHoffman is to help underrepresented individuals defend their rights.

Cara Lee Thompson, Esquire

Ms. Thompson serves as Of-Counsel to AyerHoffman and has nearly five years of experience in Domestic Relations Law. Ms. Thompson’s practice focuses on divorce and custody proceedings.
At Suffolk University Law School, Ms. Thompson honed her skills and knowledge in Domestic Relations Law with focused coursework on topics such as Financial Issues in Family Law, Assisted Reproductive Technology and Federal Income Taxation. In addition, Ms. Thompson spent two semesters serving as a Research Assistant to Charles P. Kindregan, Jr., one of the nation’s most prominent practitioners, authors and professors in the Domestic Relations field.
Ms. Thompson understands that Domestic Relations proceedings can be both legally and emotionally complex. She is dedicated to ensuring her clients receive the utmost care, attention and aggressive representation their cases deserve.
